Wholesale Fitness Towels
Whether you’re hitting the gym, exercising at the park or just starting a fitness routine in the comfort of your own home, you’ll need plenty of essentials on hand. Think gym clothes that enable you to move easily, bend and stretch, sneakers to support your ankles, a water bottle to keep you hydrated and some headphones that let you listen to your tunes while you’re working up a sweat. But there’s one more essential that plenty of people forget to grab, and that’s a fitness towel.
Fitness towels are an important part of any exercise routine. They help people clear the sweat from their skin, keeping themselves clean, and can also be used to wipe down any exercise machines. Gym towels can even be used to help complete certain exercises. With so many valuable uses, this item is one that no one should leave behind.
The Importance of Cotton Fitness Towels
Maybe you’ve trained or exercised in the past without a towel, and you’re wondering what all the fuss is about. The truth is that there are plenty of benefits to workout towels. They can help elevate an entire workout session to something even better and keep everyone safer and healthier in the process. Let’s look at the details of some of these benefits now.
1. Wipe Away Your Sweat
Sweating at the gym is nothing to feel embarrassed about. We all do it, and it’s not a sign of anything negative. If the body is sweating a lot, the only thing it means is that you’ve been working hard and your body is trying to keep you cool. Rather than sweat being something we sometimes feel self-conscious about, we should view it as a mark of how much work we put in.
There’s no denying, however, that sweat can get a little annoying at times. It drips into your eyes, makes your hands damp and clammy as you’re trying to operate different equipment and can even make your yoga mat slippery. This is where your towel comes in. You can use it to help clear the sweat off your face, body and arms. Doing so will help you feel cleaner and dryer and also keep the sweat from drying on your skin.
For maximum germ protection, always use a towel instead of your hands, as you can make sure a towel is sanitary, dry and able to keep you as clean as possible throughout your entire workout.
2. Protect Yourself From Germs
Have you ever gone to use a stationary bicycle or a rowing machine only to find the seat and handles still damp with someone else’s sweat? No one wants to experience this situation, but we all do at one time or another. Sometimes, we may have even left machines like this ourselves without meaning to. And while most gyms will have wet wipes or paper towels around to wipe down machines, these cleaning products can’t always protect you from germs that have been left behind.
If you bring a towel to the gym with you, you can lay it down over the machine before sitting down. That way, you’ll create a protective layer between you and any germs that may be hiding on the seat. And if you’d rather not handle the wipes and cleaning sprays that everyone else in the gym touches, you can also use your towel to wipe down the machine before and after you use it. Make sure to mark the side of the towel that touches the machines so that you know which side is dirty.
If you chose to use your towel to wipe off machines, it’s best to use a separate towel to wipe the sweat off yourself. If you use the same towel for both purposes, you could very easily be wiping germs off the machines and then onto yourself. Keep yourself clean and healthy by using separate towels for these two purposes.
What Are the Natural Benefits of Cotton Fitness Towels?
This information makes it clear that towels are a much-needed accessory at any gym. If you’re a gym owner or manager, remember to provide high-quality towels for your guests.
Of course, decisions will have to be made. The first such decision is what type of material you’d like to use for your towels. A few different options are out there, such as cotton-polyester blends, microfiber and linen. None of these solutions are nearly as popular as the classic cotton towel, however, and for good reason. Here are just a few of the benefits of choosing a cotton towel as the official towel of your gym.
1. Availability
Cotton towels are some of the most widely available versions in the world. You’ll be able to find them at any local department store, bath-and-kitchen store and even with many online retailers, which makes them extremely easy to replace once they wear out.
2. Absorbency
Some towels, such as those constructed from certain microfibers, may look pretty but will not perform well when it comes to actually absorbing liquid. Not so with cotton towels, however, which are built to maximize drying power while at the same time not instantly becoming saturated.
Absorbency comes in many different levels and in many ways depends on the towel itself. A brand new towel will usually absorb more than an old and threadbare one, and a higher-quality towel will typically absorb more than a cheaper and thinner towel. And while absorbency is a good quality in a gym towel, you don’t want an extremely heavy option that both absorbs and retains moisture. Cotton strikes the perfect balance and makes for an excellent fitness towel.
3. Durability
Any towel, whether it’s your dish towel, bath towel or gym towel, should be durable. There’s little point in a towel that wears out so quickly it needs to be replaced after one or two uses, which is another factor that makes cotton such an excellent choice. Cotton fibers are tough and durable enough to last through multiple washings and uses, and they’ll be able to serve you through many guest uses too.
Like absorbency, however, durability comes at many different levels, and each one has a purpose. Some gym owners may prefer a less expensive towel that doesn’t last long, as they may like to buy their towels in bulk and dispose of them after a few uses each. Others may prefer a more durable towel that’s more expensive up front but lasts longer and needs to be replaced far less frequently. The choice is yours, and cotton towels can meet your needs no matter which of these options you prefer.
Training With a Towel
Did you know your towels can do more than wipe away sweat and germs? It turns out, towels can actively help gym-goers with their workouts. In fact, plenty of exercises can be supplemented with a towel, becoming better and more challenging as a result. To learn the basics of how a towel can help add to a workout routine, you’ll need to first understand the different types of grips you can use with a towel and how each of these grips exercises the body differently. Consider pinching, gripping and crushing:
- Pinching: A pinching grip uses only the hand and fingers to hold an object. The arms are not engaged, and if they are, they’re not being used heavily. Instead, all the force should stem from the hands and fingers themselves. This kind of grip will not be used very often, as it doesn’t engage the arms and therefore will not be highly conducive to muscle building. However, it’s still important for some work.
- Gripping: This type of hold combines the gripping powers of the hand along with the use of the forearm muscles. This grip will usually be combined with a pulling movement and is the most frequently used grip in muscle training.
- Crushing: The crushing grip uses the hands to squeeze or press something and combines this force from the hands with added pressure from the forearms. It uses the same sets of muscles as the gripping hold but directs the force in a different way. While gripping is the most frequently used hold, crushing is the second most important and should not be neglected in training.
By training with a towel, you can help hone these different grips, increasing strength in both the hands and forearms that you wouldn’t otherwise gain from merely operating the gym equipment. A few of the major benefits you’ll experience from performing this type of grip-training with a towel include the following.
1. Crushing and Gripping Training
These moves may initially sound meaningless in the context of simply gripping a towel, but they actually translate into real-world strength and an increased ability to perform more challenging exercises. Gripping training cultivates your ability to perform pulling motions, which are crucial to many weight machines and exercises. Likewise, crushing training produces the type of strength necessary to support your own body weight in addition to other weights in exercises such as push-ups and weight training.
2. Increased Range of Motion
While most exercise machines lock you into a specific set of motions, towels allow for more flexibility and freedom. This characteristic allows for greater variation in movement and in turn leads to a greater range of motion, allowing individuals to complete new exercises and add to their overall health, strength and flexibility. If the body is comfortable with a wider range of motion, it’s also less prone to injury during exercise.
3. Fun and Challenging Work
There are only so many ways to use an exercise machine. After weeks, months and years of going to the gym, people get bored of doing the same thing over and over. A towel is a great way to give a piece of equipment a new purpose, and it can create a new and unique challenge for even the most eager gym-goer.
What Exercises Can You Do With Towels?
There are a variety of different exercises you can try with the help of towels. A few of the most common ones include:
- Pull-ups: A pull-up can be done with either one large, bath-sized towel, which you can grip with one hand on either side, or two small hand towels — one for each hand. Drape the towel or towels across the pull-up handles so that you hang onto the towel instead of the bars. Then, execute the pull-up just as you ordinarily would, implementing the same range of motion.
- Towel hangs: Set this exercise up exactly like you did for the pull-ups, with either one large towel or two small ones. Grasp the material with your hands and lift yourself off the ground. Instead of lifting yourself up and down, however, simply hang. This move is a great way to train your grip and finish off a hard day of strength training.
- Side-to-side towel pull-ups: This exercise is very similar to an ordinary pull-up, but it adds extra room for a greater range of motion. Use a regular bar like you would for a pull-up, but drape a towel over it so that it hangs off either side. Then, grasp either end of the material so that you’re standing with a hand on either side of the bar. Then, complete your pull-ups. The benefit of the towel is that it adds grip training into the mix and also gives your shoulder room for more movement at the top of the pull-up.
- Towel T-bar rows: These reps are great for training the back and shoulders, and the added towel element means you can challenge your grip strength at the same time. To complete this exercise, stand with one leg on either side of a barbell, loaded with a weight at the end in front of you. Wrap a towel around the bar so that you hold either side of it, bend your knees, and pull up on the towel to raise and lower the front end of the bar.
